Ever get a tattoo you really regret? Something that may (or may not) have seemed like a good idea at the time but now makes you want to wear a hoodie to the beach?
You don't have to hide, and you don't have to laser... Get a cover-up!
A lot of people think covering an old tattoo means heavy black and lots of it. Simply put, they're wrong. These before and after photos are all real -- no photoshop necessary!
Turn that tattoo you hate into one that makes you feel proud.
This 'after' photo is of the tattoo a couple of months healed. Even right up close, there's no sign the old tattoo even existed!
Christian didn't so much dislike his small tribal tattoos so much as he was ready to go big and beautiful. The old stuff was just in the way!
To get the positioning right, many of these designs are drawn freehand
The finished tattoo, completely healed!
You don't have to go heaps larger than the existing tattoo, just big enough that the new one completely covers it.
Delicate, graceful and bright were the watchwords for this excited collector!
This tattoo took somewhere in the neighborhood of fourteen hours, mostly in one- and two-hour sessions.
This cute little vampire does a fine job of covering up the ex's name. The flash in the photo did catch the way the old tattoo puffed up while we were working on it, but the collector assures me this has since settled down.
The key here was positioning the two angels in the clear space between tattoos!
This young lady is getting into larger, more serious tattoos and wanted to get rid of her tiny 'starter stamps'.
Don't believe any artist trying to tell you that black is the only answer. That kind of old-fashioned thinking usually leaves you with two separate blacks and the old tattoo clearly visible: a mess.
The real secret is much more subtle.
Colour and movement are the real keys to a successful cover-up tattoo. A careful design will keep the eye moving over and around the new tattoo, making any small variations where the old tattoo shows through difficult to spot.
Life's too short to walk around with bad ink!
